13 months old

What does he do now that he is 13 months old... well a lot actually... it can be kind of scary at times to see the little sponge absorbing everything around him. He loves to copy people and is always ready to laugh with anyone.. He loves to say "hi" and "bye" to people. He is now walking everywhere and crawling is a thing of the past. He also is quite the climber and if I am not careful he will end up standing on a table or climbing on all sorts of things. His vocabulary is growing everyday and his list of words now consists of hi, bye, milk, mommy, daddy, ba (my sister), wow, yeah, no, dog, cat, balloon, fish, and book. He still signs thank you. He loves animals and we let him watch the animal planet when we are getting ready in the morning. He is very into the show and once saw a baby jaguar licking someones face and he started making his kiss noise. He LOVES books right now and all day long is bringing books over to us and sitting in our laps for us to read to him. His favorite are the Usborne touchy-feely books. We read those to him about a million times a day! He has been gaining weight too and has gained almost a pound in a month! His favorite foods to eat are berries and cheese.

Wesley's Discovery

So Wesley has been sleeping in a toddler bed sense he was about 7 months old due to climbing. We have never had any issues with him climbing out until the other day I was cleaning in his room and he was playing around and figured out that he could do it. So we were having to go into the room and put him back into bed a few times before he would stay and fall asleep. He knows he is not supposed to do it and now runs back to his bed once we open the door. Today we were having the stay in bed battle again and i could see from the video monitor that he had gotten out of bed so I went up to lay him back down. I opened the door and he was no where in sight. I looked a little closer and he had crawled under the bunk beds that we also have in the room and was hiding! He stayed under there while I tried to compose myself to keep from laughing and then he sheepishly crawled out and went and get back in his bed.

Grandpa Hair....

So Wesley's Grandpa is known for his crazy hair... I think Wesley is trying to take after him in that department.

Wesley Birthday Party!

One Year Old

So what can he do now that he is one??? Well he did take his first steps. He can say mama, daddy, hi, bye, wow, yeah, and milk. He says thank you in sign language. He smiles and says "cheese" when he is having his picture taken. He loves to wave hi and bye to people. He is a speed crawler. He loves music and to "sing" and dance. He has 4 teeth. He is still very skinny and only in the 3rd percentile for his weight. But in the 70th percentile for his height.

Standing....

So I am horribly behind in my post... but trying really hard to remember and catch up. About 4 weeks ago Wesley started standing up on his own without holding onto anything. It started at school when we were dancing and he just stood up with all the children and started dancing with them!

Costume Party

So we were invited to a costume party and we were trying to come up with a great idea... it took a while but finally we came up with the perfect idea... and we won 1st prize!

Renaissance Fesitval

On Saturday we went with some friends to the renaissance festival. We had a great time eating awesome food, watching a joust, watching a sword swallower and just walking around and looking at things. Wesley really enjoyed eating all the food. He had a porkchop on a stick and some cheese cake... also a cookie. He also enjoyed wearing Marittas sunglasses! Whipcream

At youth group a few weeks ago they had ultimate challenge night. Jean and I ran a challenge that involved whip cream. Aunt Jean loves to spoil Wesley in the food area and has given him a lot of his first tastes of things (milk shake and curly fries) could not resist and sat Wesley down with a whole bowl of cool whip! He had so much fun with it and was a total mess. He would take handfuls of it and eat it and then say "mmmmmmmmm". He was a bit hyper afterwards but he really enjoyed himself.

Thank you

While we were in Maine visiting we were hanging out with a few people and someone gave something to Wesley and I asked him if he could say "thank you". My mom then showed him the sign language for thank you and after a few times showing him he repeated the sign. After that nothing else was said about it. A few nights ago at dinner Wesley was fussing because he wanted something and I asked him if he could say "please". He started doing the sign for thank you. I was a bit shocked that he had remembered that for about 3 days! He now has been using the sign for thank you and is quite pleased with himself about it.

Driving...

Today I was in the car stopped at a stop light and I heard Wesley making a noise. I thought maybe he was trying to get my attention so i looked back at the mirror that we have to see him and he was pushing up in his car saet as far as the belt would allow and looking out his window. I looked through his wondow to see a truck full of men leaning out thier windows and waving at him. It was a pretty funny sight to see and he was pretty happy to have gotten thier attention.

Labor day weekend...

Wesley, Carolyn and I went with my friend Jean to her sister big Labor day BBQ. The weather was perfect and the food was awesome. Wesley enjoyed playing with the puppy and with all of Jean's nephews. He LOVED playing on the trampoline and was perfectly happy to hangout with the boys. He took a short nap on the way there in the morning and he did not fall back asleep till around 6. He was very hot with me holding him and there was not really any place safe to lay him down so we improvised and put him in the dogs crate where we all were sitting and he had a very peaceful and relaxing nap.

9 Month Check Up

So our little peanut at 9 months weighs 17 lbs 2 oz which puts him in the 7th (yes I wrote that right) percentile for weight and he is 28 inches long which puts him in the 50th percentile for height. I guess I have something else to argue that he has inherited from me. I was always a long skinny baby! He is hitting all the milestones on time and is a very active boy.

One crazy day!

On Sat. we drove to Baltimore and picked up my brother and then headed to the beach in Annapolis to hang out for a while. Wesley LOVED the beach. He spent a long time in the water floating around and having a great time. Then he went for a walk with Daddy and then came back and spent a long time playing in the sand. He was a very sleepy boy when we left. We then headed into Baltimore to eat dinner and walk around. After that we went the the aquarium and spent some time in there looking at all the sea creatures that they had. Wesley was very into the stingray display that they had and spent a lot of time looking and pointing and waving at them. He also was very vocal and would scream (with joy) when one would swim towards him. It was a very long and busy day but so much fun. Wesley was in a great mood the whole day dispite his lack of sleeping.
